SEAS Prestige CA15RLY (H1216) 5.5″ Coated Paper Cone Woofer gives a smooth extended frequency response with a controlled roll off. Blended here with the H1189 fabric dome tweeter with polymer surround. The single small value high pass cap and single low pass choke indicate a nice acoustic match.  

Enclosure suggestions:

  • Sealed box of 0.15 cubic foot for an F3 of 115Hz.
  • Vented box of 0.25 cubic foot with a 1″ diameter vent by 3″ long for an F3 of 68Hz.

This design uses the Seas H1571 7″ Curv Cone, same woofer used in the popular Idunn and Bragi kits mated with the Fountek ribbon tweeter. Single high pass cap. No box specified.

  • Vented box of 0.5 cubic foot with a 2″ diameter vent by 6″ long for an F3 of 51Hz.

This 2way design uses the world-famous Accuton 7″ ceramic cone bass-midrange for small bookshelf monitors and the 1″ ceramic dome tweeter (currently on special order basis) crossed over at about 1.8 kHz. Output in the upper 80 dB range. Impedance between 6 to 8 ohm. Good phase characteristics across the crossover region.

This design uses the Fostex 12″ woofer in 3.0 cf3 vented with two ports each 3″ x5″, add 1″ if using double flared. Scanspeak 15m midrange in 0.1 cf3 sealed. The tweeter is a high output Ring Radiator with phase plug. Two large caps on tweeter hi pass and one large midrange cap. 3.0 mH is your series inductor. System impedance mostly 5- 6 ohm in the midband. System output 91 dB+.

Simulated in half-space. Crossover points at 300 Hz and about 3.3 kHz.

Note low impedance dropping to 3 ohm in lower region.

Large midrange cap and two large hi-pass caps. Woofer in 1.8 cf3 with single vent 3″ x 10″. Note mid and tweeter are in reverse polarity relative to woofer.
