    New center channel too loud, will LPAD work or affect bass

    New centerchannel is more efficient than last one, settings on preamp at near bottom (-8db), can I LPAD at the input to speaker or is this going to affect the QTS/bass alignment (reflex loaded)?

    Lpad as in fixed parallel/series, not a potentiometer.

    LPAD will work just fine. Just make sure it can handle your power requirements.
