Hi

I've got a pair of Scanspeak 23w/4457T and am trying to build a pair of subs and am looking for the best enclosures. According to the manufacture website, I should use 1-2 passive radiators in a ~1 cu ft box. If I model this on WinISD, then I get a decent curve, with F3 of about 23 hz.

If I model a vented design, I get an F3 of 16 Hz and a flat curve down below 20hz. Nice.....but....

The recommended 14 cm dia port, is > 4m long!!! in a 67L box. How does that work? Clearly there's a lot of volume / air mass in the port system (~ 6 L)

So I came up with 2 questions:
1 - does the volume of the box include the port volume?
2 - if the volume of the air in the port is the only thing thats important, why does it have to that long? i.e. can I have a 14 cm opening on both ends with a big chamber = 6L in the middle?

That would make it much easier to build.

Thanks for any clarification.
