Zaph|Audio ZA5.3 MTM, Pair by Troy Madden Date Added: Wednesday 18 November, 2009
Zaph|Audio ZA5.3 MTM, Pair A great sounding kit, and a fantastic value! The Zaph Audio mid\woofers and Zaph's crossover expertise combine to deliver very high-end sound. Their presentation is clean, open and natural. I use mine in combination with 12" woofers electronically crossed over at about 250Hz and couldn't be happier. They are far more accurate than the MTM's they replaced. My thanks to Zaph and Madisound!

Zaph Audio ZA14W08 5" Mid/Woofer by Troy Madden Date Added: Wednesday 18 November, 2009
Zaph Audio ZA14W08 5" Mid/Woofer In my opinion the ZA14W08 mid/woofer is an incredible bargain. I believe you would have to spend 2-3 times what these cost to equal or better them. These are very open, clean and natural sounding when implemented properly. The build quality is great, and they are nice to look at also. I would like to thank Zaph Audio and Madisound for offering this high quality driver at a very reasonable price!

SEAS Excel W18NX-001 (E0042) Nextel Cone 7" Woofer by Shiv Naimpally Date Added: Saturday 07 November, 2009
SEAS Excel W18NX-001 (E0042) Nextel Cone 7" Woofer I have had these woofers mounted in my car doors in the stock location for the past year. They were reccomended to me by several people, and have provided excellent results. They reproduce everything thrown at them flawlessly and without adding any coloration. Imaging is excellent. They will play fairly low, releiving the subwoofer off all but the true sub-bass. I have them crossed at 60Hz and at 2.5khz. I have the Seas W18NX mated with the 1" Scanspeak Illuminators and the two make an excellent combination. Someone should design a home speaker using the Scanspeak 1" Illuminator and the Seas W18NX. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. If you want one of the best wo..

Scan-Speak Illuminator D3004/602000 Tweeter by Shiv Naimpally Date Added: Saturday 07 November, 2009
Scan-Speak Illuminator D3004/602000 Tweeter These are quite simply the best tweeters I have ever heard or used. I have them mounted at a slight angle in the sail panels of my car, with the driver's side tweeter aimed at the passenger's side window and vice-versa. The imaging is superb, with a soundstage that is much wider and taller than the car. With good SQ source material, the placement of instruments is very precise and results in a hologgraphic soundstage. Some of this has to do with placement, but a lot of this has to do with the tweeter itself. The sound is velvety smooth and effortless, without any trace of harshness. There is top end clarity and "air" that is revealing without being overwhelming. Some tweeters image well b..

Goldwood GM-85/8 5" Midrange by Phil Humrichouse Date Added: Friday 06 November, 2009
Goldwood GM-85/8 5" Midrange I bought these speakers to replace the blown midranges in my Sony SSMF-400H Towers. These are hands down 3X better speakers than the cheap sonys which only had a 4 or 5 oz magnet. I used the same 2.7 capacitor that was used on the original mid's and it sounds really good for the price. In my opinion these speakers are a great inexpensive upgrade to any cheap midrange you are needing to replace.

Tymphany LAT500 8/8 ohm (4 ohm in parallel) by Scott Philiben Date Added: Tuesday 03 November, 2009
Tymphany LAT500 8/8 ohm (4 ohm in parallel) I bought this unit as the concept was appealing apposed driver pairs The space for my subwoofer was in a cabinet above the bed headboard- this was for a Bedroom Suite Home theater Not an Ideal location but the surround sound has to work in two locations (bed and seating area) - good compromise _ I paired this unit to the Kiega 200 Watt amp and I can definitely feel the bass Dialing the unit in now and damping the cabinet walls as it definately shakes the walls when the subwoofer volume is high - but only during very loud "noise" passages The Dark Knight opening shot is one example but the rest of the movie was fine. More fine tuning of the room balance I will use this unit ag..

Zaph|Audio SR71 Kit (Pair) - Complete by Jeff Paoletti Date Added: Monday 02 November, 2009
Zaph|Audio SR71 Kit (Pair) - Complete Built the SR-71 s when they first came out nearly 2 years ago and haven't had any desire to upgrade since. Read Zaph's page for this to make sure you understand how they should be setup. If you do not have a similar environment, there are several variations on how to modify the crossover for less baffle step etc. I bought the precut baffle and built the cabs. There's no overhyped bass, so you may want to use a deep sub for the very lowest lows

SB Acoustics SB34NRX75-6 12" Woofer by Oded Aharon Date Added: Monday 02 November, 2009
SB Acoustics SB34NRX75-6 12" Woofer I used this woofer for a 3 way project and i must say this fellow goes really really low. it has exceptional clean and warm bass. it was exactly the kind of bass i was looking for. i played a bit with active XO on this driver. in my opinion it shouldn't be crossed above 400 Hz. it sounded distorted to me above this frequency... below that it's bass addicts heaven :) i would highly recommend this one for sub woofers and big 3 way applications.

Goldwood GM-85/8 5" Midrange by ben garland Date Added: Tuesday 27 October, 2009
Goldwood GM-85/8 5" Midrange this mid is a very good replacement for a mcintosh mid used in the xr14's in fact a former mac employee recommended this and to my ears it is better than the original made by rola, low cost but high quality , you can not go wrong!!!

Fostex BK-16 Folded Horn Kit - Pair by Charles Mooradian Date Added: Tuesday 27 October, 2009
Fostex BK-16 Folded Horn Kit - Pair This was my first attempt at building a speaker; kit or otherwise. This was definately the right choice for a first time builder and was not difficult. I am using these with a 3 watt per channel tube amp and it is a great combo, and can get very loud. The sound is beyond what I expected, and I don't believe available for this kind of money in a manufactured speaker. Crystal clear and detailed but not anesthetic. Superb mids and highs. It is easy to want to turn the volume up a bit with these, and with a bit more volume the lows fill out. The lows are detailed too; bass notes, not base tones. To Madisound's credit: they advised me to go with the BK-20 for better/lower lows. This kit is a grea..

LPG 26NAFM aluminum Dome, Neo Magnet, flush mount by Aaron Thomas Date Added: Wednesday 21 October, 2009
LPG 26NAFM aluminum Dome, Neo Magnet, flush mount These are awesome tweeters! I have them mounted in my 07 Accord in the dash firing up into the windshield and I have them cut off at 4 KHz at 24 db/oct. I tried them at 3.2 KHz and while they played fine at that point, they just sounded better at 4. Im pairing them with a set of Polk Audio SR6500 6.5" mids which can play pretty high so Im able to use the 4 KHz crossover point with good results. These things are very detailed and sound outstanding on musical instruments. They have a very slight harshness on vocals that is common with metal dome tweeters but the outstanding instrument reproduction more than makes up for it. If youre needing a tweeter to play well below 3.2 KHz these pr..

Aurasound NT1-204-8D 3/4" Titanium Dome Tweeter by William Zurbrick Date Added: Thursday 15 October, 2009
Aurasound NT1-204-8D 3/4" Titanium Dome Tweeter I purchased a pair of these (well, I have bought 5 now...will explain!) for my first pair of DIY 2-way loudspeakers. They were mated with Aurasound NS4-255-8F drivers. These tweeters appealed to me because of their price (first project, didn't want to get in too deep financially), and they seemed to have very a nice, flat response according to their datasheet. Thus far, I have been very happy with them. The sound quality from the loudspeakers beats anything you would find at a big-box store! Don't discount these due to their price, I am very pleased with them. Now, I have bought 5 of these because of my own clumsiness. The product page for theses says it...don't touch the dome! Even if yo..

Zaph|Audio SR71 Kit (Pair) - Complete by Merle Scruggs Date Added: Saturday 03 October, 2009
Zaph|Audio SR71 Kit (Pair) - Complete I built this kit around a month ago. For the first 20 hours or so, I was not impressed. After that? Well, they sing like heaven. I have a small listening room, around 10 x 12 x 8. I had been using Totem Arro's. Up to the SR71's, the Arro's were the best speakers I had tried in this small room. The Arro's won't be going back. The SR71's meet or exceed everything the Arro's do well. Plus, the bass response is much better. Full, deep and tight, the bass response is superb in my small room. I really don't think anyone could do better for twice the price. For those who can do excellent cabinet work, this kit is worthy of your best work. I bought the kit with the cabinets. While the supplied cabin..
